A little bit about Olive Massage

The business is owned and managed by Lucy Cook. Having previously sold a successful massage and beauty salon in Selby, which she had owned for 7 years, Lucy decided that she wanted to specialise in massage therapy in her home town of Wakefield.

Lucy’s Story

Lucy’s interest in massage started over 10 years ago. After suffering a whiplash injury she began to suffer from chronic neck and shoulder pain which caused her to have daily tension headaches that began to affect her day to day living. After pursuing many avenues such as visits to doctors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors and osteopaths etc the pain remained, until Lucy discovered deep tissue massage. After her first massage session the pain began to ease almost immediately and after three sessions it was gone altogether. Lucy was so impressed by the benefits of massage that she left her career to train as a massage therapist.

Scarlett’s Story

Hi! I’m Scarlett, I am a MSc Sports and Exercise Therapy Graduate from Leeds Beckett University. I am currently working within a clinic and a sports setting, this being within Huddersfield Giants.

Since being qualified I have been interested in gaining experience in a variety of settings where Sports Therapy/massage can be used, the most recent being at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. In addition to this I have been involved in Leeds United and Bradford Bulls. Away from clinical work, I am an avid Rower. I have been involved in the sporting world in some way since I was a teenager, so I am very keen about helping people return to their sport or their daily routine pain free.

Having suffered many injuries myself, I am aware of how it feels to not be able to do the thing you love; this is why I am passionate about getting people back fighting fit using the Sports Therapy skills I have developed over the years!

Hannah’s Story

Hi, I’m Hannah, a BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Therapy Graduate from Leeds Beckett University. I gained a lot of experience in Sports Massage and treating musculoskeletal injuries at Leeds Beckett University Massage & Injury Clinic, whilst also on placement with professional clubs, such as; Leeds Rhinos, Hunslet RLFC, Bradford City AFC. After graduating I continued to work with a rugby club proving massage Pre & Post training and helped out with massage at events such as the Great North Run. I recently completed a Masters degree in Sports
and Exercise medicine where I also gained The FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF), meaning I am qualified to provide pitch-side cover.

Outside my clinic work, I am an active individual and have participated in multiple sports throughout the years, such as netball, football and my most recent sport being rowing at university where I was the Club President. Due to being very active, I know what it is like to be injured or have aches and pains stopping you from exercising. That’s why my main goal as a Sports Therapist is to help clients get back to a good physical state as quickly as possible.
