Myofascial Cupping Massage

Myofascial Cupping Massage

Myofascial cupping massage is an ancient Chinese massage therapy based on the Chinese Qi theory of body energy.  Cupping is believed to remove any stagnation in the body and opens up channels so that Qi or energy can flow freely. It can also help to rejuvenate certain organs that are not functioning at their best.

The pulling effect created by the suction inside the cups deeply massages muscles, eliminating knots and muscle spasms, helping the body to realign itself in a similar way to deep tissue massage.

If you’re unsure of your requirements, contact our friendly team who will be able to advise and recommend different options to suit you.

Myofascial cupping massage is £55 in Leeds or Wakefield. We incorporate the cupping into a Swedish massage treatment.

Myofascial Cupping Massage Benefits

Myofascial Cupping Massage increases blood flow and speeds up metabolism in the soft tissues which increases available nutrients and cleansing toxins to promote healing through pain reduction and deep relaxation.  It can help with:

  • Pain relief and aches: back pain, muscle pain, muscle stiffness & sporting injuries
  • Colds & flu symptoms
  • Weight loss
  • Cellulite
  • Skin conditions such as Eczema and Acne
  • Respiratory Problems
  • Sciatica

Myofascial Cupping Massage Technique

Glass cups are generally used for cupping and have valves so they work like suction cups.  In order to allow the cups to move over the skin easily, oil is used and there is some friction generated when moving the cups, causing a small but significant amount of heat.

The cups are generally left in place for five to fifteen minutes. The skin under the cups will then redden due to the congestion of blood flow. The cup is then removed from the skin by pressing the skin on one side, allowing some outside air to enter and thus equalising the pressure. Some bruising on the skin where the rim of the cup has been is to be expected.

Having had several Manual Lymphatic Drainage massages to aid with both digestion issues and fluid retention, I can now really see the benefits of this great treatment. I cannot recommend Lucy enough for her experience, knowledge and absolute friendliness to make you feel totally at ease.

Highly recommend!

I’ve know Lucy for quite some time now and I’ve always found her and Olive Massage a very professional place to come to.

Last time I visited I was treated by Lily and I was completely satisfied with the treatment that I received.

As a PT and someone that trains regular, I tend to tighten up in my neck and shoulders.

I explained my issue to Lily and she treated the issue spot on for me.

I went to Olive Massage as I needed a deep tissue massage for a sore back. Lucy was great. She asked me questions to assess the issue and the massage was a good pressure for me. My back pain has greatly reduced. I’ve been back a few times over the past couple of months and can highly recommend Olive Massage.

I recently went to Olive massage for a sports massage with Lucy’s husband Martin. I have suffered with shoulder and neck pain for years and also with a large knot hidden deep behind my shoulder blade. I can honestly say this was one of the best massages I’ve had to date. Not only do I feel in so much less pain, the area is not half as tight as it was even after just one session. Martin was super friendly and professional, made me feel comfortable and even took the time to go through in detail the correct desk set up (I’m at the computer a lot for work). He gave me advice and some techniques to ease pain in the future. Lucy was also around to welcome me and say goodbye, both were really nice! I will definitely be booking again soon.

I discovered the benefits of massage late in life, I am an avid walker, about 3 years ago at 60 year old, I developed pain in my feet, knees and hips. My GP said "old age" and prescribed painkillers that, he said, I would have to take for life. Thankfully my much younger sports coach Brother, said nonsense and challenged me to go for a Sports massage....I took to Google and discovered Lucy and her team....I have never looked back. My 1st session ...I shuffled into the therapy room, an hour later I could not believe how much my pain had reduced and my normal walk had returned to replace my old age shuffle. Don't accept reduced mobility, aches and pains as an inevitable part of ageing. I am a regular at Olive Massage now, I am someone who won't even use communal changing rooms, so attended my 1st session reluctantly, there was no need, Lucy and her team are so professional, they ensure privacy and dignity. I have no hesitation now and Olive Massage is now an integral part of my health and wellbeing regime. My 'old age' shuffle has completely disappeared, and I don't need the painkillers prescribed by my GP.

I can not recommend Libby enough-she is amazing at deep tissue massage!
I suffer with bad tension and knots in my upper back and shoulders which can make movement limited, after 4 sessions with Libby I feel like a completely different person - I no longer have burning sensations in my muscles, can move my head freely and no longer suffer with headaches.
Every session she instinctively knows which areas need the most work and I always leave feeling tension free and so relaxed.
I have been to a few massage therapist in the past and Libby is by far the best.
