Sleepless nights? We have the answer!

By June 14, 2017News

There’s not many things that can refresh and rejuvenate your body quite like a good night’s sleep. Ignoring or trying to power through sleepless nights is like driving your car everyday without ever changing the oil or putting air in the tires – eventually, things will begin to go wrong!

The feeling of getting a good night’s sleep not only feels great, but offers heaps of benefits you may not be aware of. Some of these are:

  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Allows time for your body to heal
  • Helps you to maintain a healthy weight
  • Decreases sugar cravings throughout the day

So, how on earth could a regular massage help me to get a better night’s sleep?! Well…

Studies show regular massages can aid a better night’s sleep. Often, sleepless nights are down to our brains being too active as we try to fall asleep. Massage can help to reduce anxiety levels, thus allowing you shut off thoughts of the day and fall asleep much much more quickly. If your sleepless nights are caused by muscular pain – maybe you’ve just run a marathon, but your legs feel like you’ve run ten. Massage can help to relieve pain and increase blood flow to the areas – to help them to repair.

Whilst you’re waiting for your first massage, create an ideal sleeping environment. Try putting down your phone an hour before you go to sleep, and pick up a book instead – electronics stimulate the brain, which can cause problems with switching off once you’re ready to sleep. Placebo or not, Lavender is said to have calming qualities, so try some lavender pillow spray – or even a lavender scented laundry detergent!

We hope this helps you to get the good night’s sleep you deserve. To book in for your first massage call the Olive Massage team today – we’d love to help you.
